Based very loosely on Robert Ludlum's novel, the Bourne Identity is the story of a man whose wounded body is discovered by fishermen who nurse him back to health. He can remember nothing and begins to try to rebuild his memory based on clues such as a Swiss bank account, the number of which is implanted in his hip. He soon realizes that he is being hunted and takes off with Marie on a search to find out who he is - and why he is being hunted.
|nudity||(1:00:40) Bourne and Marie kiss passionately and he removes his shirt before the camera backs out of their hotel room, leaving it ambiguous as to whether or not they had sex. She is, however, seen waking up in the morning fully clothed, and he is sitting in a chair in the bedroom fully clothed.|
|violence||Several fist fights. A character is stabbed in the hand with a pen in a long, no-holds-barred fist fight between two men, both trained assassins. A woman is found dead with a bullet wound in her forehead. A man commits suicide by leaping through a glass window and off a balcony. A man is shot dead by a sniper. One guy takes a bullet in the head. The bullet wound is bloody but very small and briefly seen. Another is shot several times at close range.|
|profanity||At least 2 F words though both of them are hard to hear and one is mouthed, 12 scatological terms (5 are in German and are not translated into English), 12 mild obscenities, 5 religious profanities, 15 religious exclamations (for Christ's sake).|
|alcohol||Feeling stressed, Marie buys a flask of whiskey and takes a swig.|
|frightening||Some sequences are suspenseful with an element of sustained peril. The fight scenes can be quite intense. The killing and shooting scenes could be frightening to young children. An assassin stakes out a house, and the entire sequence is fairly intense.|
