nudity This is some flirting between Flynn and Rapunzel. Flynn and Rapunzel kiss. And at the end of the film, they say that they got married. (Their wedding was the subject of a later short cartoon.)
violence Rapunzel hits Flynn over the head with a frying pan three times. (for a comedic effect) Flynn fights several soldiers with a frying pan (for a comedic effect) Flynn cuts his hand on a rock. We see the wound only for a moment. A group of rough looking men attempt to attack Flynn. They are stopped. However, for comedic effect, the horse punches him in the stomach and he groans. Also, other men manhandle Flynn while arresting him. Later, he is being led toward a hangman's noose, but he managed to escape prison with the help of numerous men. Towards the end Flynn is stabbed by Mother Gothel, but he is later revived. No blood is shown on knife, but when Rapunzel examines the wound blood is clearly shown. Mother Gothel rapidly ages, trips over Rapunzel's hair and falls out of a window. By the time her cloak hits the ground, there's nothing left of her but dark black dust.
profanity None.
alcohol In the Snuggly Duckling tavern, several men have drinking steins, presumably with beer in them, and one man acts as though he's constantly drunk. Flynn says that he doesn't remember most of a week-long celebration, implying that he was drunk throughout.
frightening 4/10 At the very beginning, an infant is kidnapped. Because Mother Gothel is in a position of trust with Rapunzel, her jokes at Rapunzel's expense and her manipulation of her are reminiscent of a parent emotionally mistreating their child. This is more likely to disturb older viewers than younger ones. Mother Gothel has scary looks and mannerisms. May affect younger viewers. Rapunzel, in a comedic scene, goes into the Snuggly Duckling and beats someone over the head. Knives are thrown at people. This is to start a song: "I've Got a Dream". "Mother Knows Best" reprise may frighten due to the eerie setting. Two people are in danger of drowning when they're trapped in a cave that is rapidly filling with water. They both escape unharmed. Flynn is dying at the end, but he is revived. It is a tearjerking scene Mother Gothel rapidly ages after Rapunzel's hair is cut. As she is centuries old, the visual image -- while not very clear -- can scare young children. Overall: 11/50 Although the ending is very emotional and may be a little intense and frightening to very young children, 'Tangled' is still a good family film for all ages to enjoy.
