After the events of Ice Age: The Meltdown, life begins to change for Manny and his friends: Scrat is still on the hunt to hold onto his beloved acorn, while finding a possible romance in a female sabre-toothed squirrel named Scratte. Manny and Ellie, having since become an item, are expecting a baby, which leaves Manny anxious to ensure that everything is perfect for when his baby arrives. Diego is fed up with being treated like a house-cat and ponders the notion that he is becoming too laid-back. Sid begins to wish for a family of his own, and so steals some dinosaur eggs which leads to Sid ending up in a strange underground world where his herd must rescue him, while dodging dinosaurs and facing danger left and right, and meeting up with a one-eyed weasel known as Buck who hunts dinosaurs intently.
|nudity||3/10 A mild reference to a female part when Manny and Ellie are talking about having the baby. They mention about it coming out the "a hole". There were wondering where that part is located. At least three veiled references are made to male genitalia. In one, Sid tries to milk a large ram-like animal, before realizing that it's a female. Buck recounts a story in which he uses a sharpened clam shell to turn a T-Rex into a T-Rachel. Mild spoiler: Sid identifies Manny and Ellie's baby as a boy, but Diego explains that "that's it's tail". A character grabs a bunch of berries and in so doing exposes a male and female animal couple in an embrace, who look shocked and embarrassed. Manny and Diego are in some cramped quarters, and Diego says he feels "tingly". Manny tells him not to say that when they're pressed up against each other.|
|violence||2/10 There is one character, Buck that has had his eye scratched out by a dinosaur. It shows the scene where it happens, but does not show any part of the actual eye being gone. A female Woolly Mammoth gives birth - nothing is shown but she screams and Diego tells her to push multiple times. Diego tries to hunt down a deer. He does not succeed. A few raptor like dinosaurs chase the main heroes. Several "bad guys" fall to their apparent deaths or are otherwise rendered impotent by the "good guys". Scrat fights with a female flying squirrel over the acorn. In one instance, Scrat actually falls off a very high cliff - Wiley E Coyote style. He of course survives, but not before making a squirrel-shaped hole in the ground.|
|profanity||1/10 "A hole" is used in the reference listed in Sex and Nudity.|
|alcohol||1/10 Several characters breathe in helium-like laughing gas, which causes them to have high-pitched voices and think that everything is funny, including the prospect of dying laughing.|
|frightening||A T-Rex chases the main characters to very intense music, but she doesn't catch or eat anybody. It is revealed that she is just concerned with getting her babies back. An even larger meat-eating dinosaur chases our heroes. These two scenes may be too frightening for young children. If movies had ESRB ratings: E10+ for Crude Humor, Violent Reference|
