As the United States dashed against Russia to put a man in space, NASA discovered undiscovered ability in a gathering of African-American female mathematicians that filled in as the brains behind one of the best operations in U.S. history. In light of the incredibly genuine biographies of three of these ladies, known as "human PCs", we take after these ladies as they rapidly climbed the positions of NASA close by a large portion of history's most prominent personalities particularly entrusted with figuring the earth shattering dispatch of space traveler John Glenn into space, and ensuring his sheltered return. Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Johnson crossed all sexual orientation, race, and expert lines while their brightness and yearning to think ambitiously, past anything at any point finished before by mankind, immovably established them in U.S. history as genuine American legends.

Movie Parental Guide

nudity The main character is a widowed single mother, and a subplot involves her romancing a new man. No serious nudity or sexual content other than light dialogue and some kissing.
violence Footage (both vintage newsreel stock footage, and newly filmed material for the movie) does feature the attitudes towards African-Americans that were common at the time of filming, including growling police dogs ready to lunge at peaceful protesters. However the amount of actual violence shown on screen is very minimal.
profanity Infrequent coarse language is voiced, but is relevant and justified by context. There are several utterances of swear words in the film, such as "damn" and "bastard". "Jesus Christ" uttered irreverently Parental guidance is advised.
alcohol The three main characters get drunk at home in one scene and dance around, though this is more of a playful, comical scene, and does not glorify alcohol.
frightening The film features many "of the period" attitudes, including racism and discrimination towards African-Americans, which may be a bit shocking to younger viewers. Set in 1960s U.S.A, 'Hidden Figures' is a biographical drama about three brilliant African-American mathematicians -- Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson -- and their contributions to space explorations carried out by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Using their calculations, NASA successfully completed their mission to send an astronaut into space and make a complete orbit of the Earth. Official MPAA Rating: Rated PG for thematic elements and some language (certificate #50479)
