Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts is about to start and he is enjoying the summer vacation with his friends. They get the tickets to The Quidditch World Cup Final but after the match is over, people dressed like Lord Voldemort's 'Death Eaters' set a fire to all the visitors' tents, coupled with the appearance of Voldemort's symbol, the 'Dark Mark' in the sky, which causes a frenzy across the magical community. That same year, Hogwarts is hosting 'The Triwizard Tournament', a magical tournament between three well-known schools of magic : Hogwarts, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. The contestants have to be above the age of 17, and are chosen by a magical object called Goblet of Fire. On the night of selection, however, the Goblet spews out four names instead of the usual three, with Harry unwittingly being selected as the Fourth Champion. Since the magic cannot be reversed, Harry is forced to go with it and brave three exceedingly difficult tasks.
|nudity||5/10 Harry takes a bath, and we see him bare from the chest up. The ghost of a young girl comes in and sees him, coming up next to him in the bath suggestively. He tries to back away awkwardly, and nothing explicit happens. Hermione (Emma Watson) wears skin-tight clothing throughout; at one point, she is seen wearing a long, elegant, pink dress revealing bare arms & shoulders. Voldemort emerges out of a cauldron, completely naked (nothing is seen) Several boys and girls are asked out to The Yule Ball dance. Some suggestive comments are made.|
|violence||7/10 Some violence in this movie is kind of disturbing. Harry finds a dead body in a forest, we only briefly see this and is not gory or explicit. A teacher tortures and then kills a spider with spells during a class. Harry is chased by a giant dragon in an action sequence, which breathes fire at him and knocks him off his broomstick several times. He isn't hurt, but is seen with a few cuts, bruises and bandages after. A young man is cursed, and tries to attack other teenagers with spells. They fight back, and the young man is knocked out. A young woman is injured, and an enchanted hedge begins to grab her and pull her away. Two young men are racing each other, but one is attacked and almost killed by an enchanted hedge. A young man ( Cedric Diggory) is killed by a spell, and his body is seen clearly but with no gore. This scene is very emotional A dark wizard uses a knife to cut open Harry's wrist, and takes his blood for a potion. We don't see the attack clearly, but we do see some blood. A man cuts off his own hand (off-screen) for a potion; we do not see any blood, but we see his hand is absent from his sleeve. He is then given an artificial hand. A teacher hits students with a book repeatedly. This is played for laughs. Dark wizards in black cloaks and skull mask attack at en event shooting fire and burning tints. Harry gets trampled and is knocked out.|
|profanity||4/10 6 uses of "bloody", and about 8 uses of "hell". At one point, Ron repeats "bloody hell" several times. 1 "damn". 1 use of "piss off". 1 brief use of git. 1 use of God's name in vain.|
|alcohol||2/10 On many occasions, Moody drinks from a flask. We're led to believe it's alcoholic, but we later learn it's a magic potion that must be consumed continually to keep the magic active.|
|frightening||8/10 A man taunts and tells a teenage boy about murdering his parents. A father cries and screams loudly over his dead son The entire last 30 mintutes of the film might be disturbing and upsetting. This is the first Harry Potter film to receive the PG-13 rating, though Prisoner of Azkaban arguably should have. Total: 26/50[/ This Harry Potter movie has a darker tone than the previous ones. the dark wizards in black cloaks and skull mask look pretty frightening when they attacked an event. Said event is unsettling. Should be fine for 12+|
