In the walled city of Thneed-Ville, where everything is artificial and even the air is a commodity, a boy named Ted hopes to win the heart of his dream girl, Audrey. When he learns of her wish to see a real tree, Ted seeks out the Once-ler, a ruined old businessman outside of town in a stark wasteland. Upon hearing of how the hermit gave into his greed for profits and devastated the land over the protests of the Lorax, Ted is inspired to undo the disaster. However, the greedy Mayor of Thneed-Ville, Aloysius O'Hare, has made his fortune exploiting the environmental collapse and is determined to stop the boy from undermining his business.
|nudity||A teen girl kisses a boy under 13 on the cheek. A young man speeds on a ramp on his motorized unicycle and lands in a man's bathroom; the man is showering and we see his bare shoulder and upper chest when he peeks around the curtain and yells.|
|violence||Mild animated violence, but nothing terribly frightening or gross. Age 5+|
|profanity||The word "Damn" is used by the antagonist in an elevator.|
|alcohol||At the end of the air bottle commercial, the tv announcer quickly adds "please breathe responsibly", similar to commercials for an alcohol beverage.|
|frightening||The Once-Ler's bed is put in a river while he's sleeping in it - an intense scene follows depicting the Once-Ler in a very dangerous situation, culminating in him almost falling down a waterfall, which may be frightening to some viewers. The Once-Ler almost dies after being thrown from a waterfall to a nearby bank. While the resulting scene with the Lorax giving him CPR is mainly handled comically, it may be confusing to some younger viewers who are not familiar with the first aid concept, and also may be unsettling to watch due to its slight tension and the urgency of the situation. There's a musical scene where the Once-Ler is portrayed as a giant man destroying the forest and scaring the animals away. This scene is slightly bizarre, and may frighten small children, as the music is also loud and strange. The Once-ler aggressively yells at the Lorax while driving him backwards down a staircase. 4+|
