Bolt, an American white shepherd, has lived his whole life on the set of his action TV show, where he believes he has superpowers. When separated from the studio by accident, he meets a female alley cat named Mittens and a hamster named Rhino. He's trying to find the way home, to the studio. Along the way, he learns that he doesn't have superpowers and that the show is not real.

nudity 0/10
violence 4/10 We see an extended sequence where Bolt and Penny have to evade a number of pursers. This includes motorcycles and a moment where Bolt jumps over a helicopter's rotors. However, some of this is mitigated by some of the comic moments (inlcuding a moment where a villain with a bomb throws it into the air to avoid being blown up, only to hit a helicopter flying above him). This is then later revealed to be a sequence from a television show. A similiar scene from the television show is seen being filmed, but this time with an emphasis on the backstage techniques that heavily mitigates any violence in the sequence. Mittens gets attacked by Bolt and pushed up against a dumpster. Mittens gets dragged by Bolt and hits a mail box, knocking her out for a short while. After jumping out of a moving truck travelling fast on the highway, Bolt notices that "red liquid" is coming out of his paw, and Mittens informs him that it's blood. However, you don't see the "red liquid". A series of events leads to a canister shooting out of a room into a sign that hits a flammable tanker, causing an explosion. No one is injured and played more for laughs. At the pet store. Penny and Bolt get trapped in a burning building in an extended scene (see below). Frightening.
profanity 0/10 The cat says, "You're scrapping the fur off my..." then it was cut off when the cat gets hit by a mailbox. Two slackers pull a couch and one slacker says to another "move your butt".

frightening 3/10 Some children might find the action in the opening televsion-in-a-movie sequence where Bolt and Penny are chased and evade a series of pursuers intense. Bolt dangles Mittens over a bridge by her neck. The street is seen filled with bustling traffic Towards the end of the movie, Penny gets stuck in a burning (indoor) movie studio; there is lots of smoke and fire, Bolt finds her and they are lie together for a couple of minutes surrounded by smoke. Penny starts to become weak due to the fumes, but Bolt manages to bark into the ventilation, alerting fireman outside that they are inside. The next scene shows them both being taken in the ambulance and the EMT saying that they are okay. However, although Penny is evidently okay, Bolt still appears "dead" for several more minutes and just lies on Penny's chest. Overall: 8/50 - A little violence and one intense scene. Nothing more than a 5-6 year old can't handle.
